Take a look at this chart and this chart
Do you see anything strange?
On the left, you have 1.8 sidearm range comparison. It has statistics for weapons such as Burst ScP, Breach ScP, and Tactical ScP. Now take a look at the chart on the left. This chart is from the pre-1.7 devblog on rifle additions/changes.
Now look at the weapons; Assault Combat Rifle, Assault Scrambler Rifle, Assault Rail Rifle, Burst Assault Rifle, Tactical Assault Rifle. Notice how at the STD level they are faded, insinuating that these weapons do not/will not exist at that tier.
But back track to the pistol ranges chart. Look at specifically Burst and Tactical. Those two weapons currently only exist at ADV, but this chart does not have them faded at STD and PRO.
Can one insinuate that 1.8 will bring around the existence of Prototype Burst Scrambler Pistols and possibly the arrival of the Tactical Pistol onto market shelves?
I would like some clarification from CCP as to why:
- Weapon ranges for Tactical are not faded at STD and PRO
- If this is a mistake
- Why there are no Assault Sidearms on the charts (is it because of imbalance?)
- Why Burst SMG and Tactical SMG were put up at all unless they will be brought about in 1.8
I sincerely hope my assumptions are right (all hail the Imperial Breach)

I like what I see with most of the changes, though. The Tac needs a big buff to be halfway useful.
I don't have any guesses about most of the OP, but I think the Assault sidearms were taken out because they don't really have a point. The Assault ScP is just a better ScP. No downsides besides fitting costs. Redundant weaponry is a waste of server space. I'll miss my carthum assaults, but it's for the best.
Yeah I always considered it the Cheater Beater of pistols but it did have a noticeably inaccurate hip fire.....by comparison I mean.
The Tac Pistol seems like wimp-wash when hipfired but that Zoom! Makes headshots pretty easy when you have the jump.

Not sure if I can agree with that but they do need to be removed for the sake of removing crutches.
